# Notifications

**Notifications** keeps students, instructors, and administrators informed about course activity in real time. Each event, from a new enrollment to an upcoming assignment deadline, can be delivered on-site and as a push notification, and every event can be turned on or off individually for each role.

{% hint style="success" %}

#### **✅ With Notifications, you can:**

* Choose how notifications open on desktop: as a **Popup** or a **Drawer**
* Turn **On Site** and **Push** delivery on or off separately for each event
* Manage notifications for **Students**, **Instructors**, and **Administrators** as three independent groups
* Enable or disable an entire role's notifications at once with **Enable all** / **Disable all**
* Let students and instructors check their notifications from a bell icon, with **All** and **Unread** tabs and a **Mark all read** action
  {% endhint %}

Notifications addon can be activated from **WP Dashboard > MS LMS > Pro Addons** page:

<figure><img src="https://691205473-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2F-MDTL6WUldKvxQaP8jzz%2Fuploads%2FJ9p8FrMv4pm6TVcp2Yid%2Fimage.png?alt=media&amp;token=2dd126e1-d15b-4997-a213-c58dab96cfb1" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Once enabled, students and instructors see a **Notifications tab** in their profile. A badge on the icon shows the number of unread notifications.

<figure><img src="https://691205473-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2F-MDTL6WUldKvxQaP8jzz%2Fuploads%2FNsqqEHSlahI1T85EpBjn%2Fimage.png?alt=media&amp;token=67b7e00b-bddc-445c-b8d8-fc0fcaa3ad2e" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

You can reach it from the dropdown menu of the User Profile:

<figure><img src="https://691205473-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2F-MDTL6WUldKvxQaP8jzz%2Fuploads%2FU0UXK1DbCN67urwCCfPs%2Fimage.png?alt=media&amp;token=6331e5d2-a79c-462d-802a-cd9acbce4f47" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Clicking <i class="fa-bell">:bell:</i> **Notifications** opens a dropdown/sidebar with:

* **All** and **Unread** tabs to filter the list
* A **Mark all read** button to clear the unread count in one click
* Each notification showing its title, a short description, the related course, and how long ago it happened

<figure><img src="https://691205473-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2F-MDTL6WUldKvxQaP8jzz%2Fuploads%2FQtAkwyucaQx4FbXZXF0l%2Fimage.png?alt=media&amp;token=905fad8c-383d-433a-8943-8be5445cc10c" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

If there is nothing new, the dropdown simply shows **"No notifications to show."**

<figure><img src="https://691205473-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2F-MDTL6WUldKvxQaP8jzz%2Fuploads%2Fslah3OVD8iUXoMp1ky9E%2Fimage.png?alt=media&amp;token=2c2857e0-191b-4ee0-bab6-3264d8379761" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

## Addon Settings

Notification settings are managed from **MS LMS > Settings > Notifications** tab:

<figure><img src="https://691205473-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2F-MDTL6WUldKvxQaP8jzz%2Fuploads%2FVfe0CykZciUKu05onTYp%2Fimage.png?alt=media&amp;token=41e28879-f6c7-4a15-8ca1-c2d09816080c" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

#### Desktop Notifications View

At the top of the settings page, choose how notifications open for users on desktop:

* **Popup**, a floating window
* **Drawer**, a panel that slides in from the side

{% tabs %}
{% tab title="Popup" %}

<figure><img src="https://691205473-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2F-MDTL6WUldKvxQaP8jzz%2Fuploads%2FZaRsAJg7giABZ47AkrQi%2Fimage.png?alt=media&amp;token=c372eb84-cc1f-406d-a30d-508c1ab1558b" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>
{% endtab %}

{% tab title="Drawer" %}

<figure><img src="https://691205473-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2F-MDTL6WUldKvxQaP8jzz%2Fuploads%2FXwTMXsCkArOB2sV9xJ7v%2Fimage.png?alt=media&amp;token=608032bc-3a56-4f28-9a31-024818d35549" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>
{% endtab %}
{% endtabs %}

{% hint style="info" %}
There is also a Notifications **Elementor widget**, designed to insert a <i class="fa-bell">:bell:</i> **Notifications** button in the header or anywhere you want.
{% endhint %}

#### Enabling Events per Role

Below the display setting, events are grouped into three sections: **Student**, **Instructor**, and **Administrator**. Each event has its own **On Site** and **Push** checkboxes, so a notification can be delivered through one channel, both, or neither.

<figure><img src="https://691205473-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2F-MDTL6WUldKvxQaP8jzz%2Fuploads%2FuvF0ZWnlA3zScXeNK6CU%2Fimage.png?alt=media&amp;token=ac300d2a-29c2-4d05-87ba-eb1287c623fb" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

{% hint style="info" %}
Use **Enable all** or **Disable all** at the top of a section to toggle every event in that role at once, instead of checking each one individually.
{% endhint %}

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.stylemixthemes.com/masterstudy-lms/lms-pro-addons/notifications.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
